I love this- Wow, he quite young to be running his own Winery and Hot Rod shop. Cheap tastings. I love the collaberation between the wine bottle label and the hot rod designs. Seems like a great guy who is setting himself up with quite an empire for the future. Very exciting. Nice reporting, Drew.”

Nice! Not as much video blogging from #WBC09 (so far) but I like how you got everyone on the bus. Bus #6 is where we get our kicks!

  7. Pete says:

No big deal, but FYI (especially to those who might be Googling or Binging it) it’s Domaine Serene, note Domain Sirene.

  8. Ed Thralls says:

Great job with the interviews, Andrew… Bus 6 did rock and you are spot on with your analysis.

  9. admin says:

Pete – Good call thanks & Cheers!

  10. Catie says:

Okay, you guys looked cool enough, but rumor is that Bus#4 was where the real cool kids were.

    Hi Andrew,
Is there any chance that the Mount Veeder Appellation Council could use the “non-branded” section of this video. Perhaps you have more video showing the mountain terrain?
    All the best,

This is great Drew! I’m glad your plan is finally coming to fruition! Amazing how many people steer clear of the Napa River, hopefully all the rumors are untrue!! Excited to see what comes of this fun, educational adventure…

  27. admin says:

@Tamara: Thanks. We are getting very excited! We’re all trying to keep it fresh, funny, and insightful. Our panel will be a change up for WBC and general social media discussions, or at least that is our goal.

    thanks!

    Andrew,

Great insight and explanation of the past year… “latent effort is mounting” is a great way to describe what has been going on. When will the tipping point occur? Hopefully, if we as a community and a consortium of professionals can use our combined efforts to prove the ability to provide tremendous value to an industry that is ripe (and has a real need) to take advantage of this set of tools, strategies and knowledge.

  30. Yann Ropars says:

Great post and thank you for your insights. I’m glad you’re putting some thoughts into our latest study post (mentioned in your blog). I hope to see some follow up from your conversations. We dearly wanted to come to WBC10 but were put a the waiting list…. Tell them that Ustream.TV should be mandatory for any future conference.

    Best,
    Yann

  31. Joe says:

    Nice work, buddy.

If you want to rile Napa/Sonoma/Carneros up, there’s tons of stuff going on RE: this event up in that state to the north of you. Tamara at sipwithme.blogspot.com is making a hard push for media darling #WV (Willamette Valley). You guys will have to unite!

  32. Andrew says:

Ohh people grow grapes outside of California? And you can buy them in California? I thought the road blocks at the state line was for fruit and wine. Oooh me.! Silly.

Alright let’s rock. Cali Oregon NY and wherever, let’s get our pinot on. But on the hush (I have always been a fan of pinot in the Sta Rita St Ynez area, but that’s just me and my wallet is not burgundy capable yet, at least sustainably.)

  33. Ed Thralls says:

Well done and thanks to everyone involved to bring this tasting event together. Wish I could be on the west coast with you, but we will “chat” virtually while we enjoy our favorite grape.

    Cheers!

    Ed

  34. Shana Ray says:

Awesome! I will be late, but I will be there! Thanks Andrew!

  35. Andrew says:

You betcha. You’re here in spirit! so happy to help carry the torch, should be a great evening!

  36. Hey Andrew,

It was great to meet you at the Wine Bloggers Conference. I’m sorry we didn’t get a chance to talk more. I really enjoyed your panel discussion and am excited to find another vlogger in close proximity.

The video diaries we recorded are now live if you want to check them out at YouTube’s Wine Bloggers Channel.

As I mentioned during our discussion, our vlog launched in February and is located at http://blog.jordanwinery.com. If you have any suggestions on content, I’d appreciate the advice from the top guns. 🙂

Hope to see you in Calistoga or Healdsburg soon.

And thanks again for the Wine Soiree. I’ve been on vacation since June 30 but will show it to our hospitality staff.

And where is the Ron Burgundy video that should accompany your #Pinot tasting post? 😉

    Regards,
    Lisa Mattson

  37. Andrew says:

@Shana! You are a rockstar! And don’t worry, I won’t let Seth near you at the tasting… 🙂

  38. Rich Reader says:

Please don’t make my head explode again. Are Los Carneros of Napa and Los Carneros of Sonoma either registered as separate AVAs/Appellations or are they treated as a single entity by the US Department of Agriculture?

  39. Ben Simons says:

Glad you guys were able to get an event together. Cheers to the folks at Anaba for hosting! Looking forward to talking with you all on Thursday!

  40. Joe says:

I love it when a plan comes together. -John “Hannibal” Smith, and not the Liam Neeson one, the George Peppard one

  41. Andrew says:

Cheers to both you Mavericks! Can’t wait to talk tannins and boogie down with some Barnyard funK!

  42. Andrew says:

It’s the ONLY AVA that is delimited by climatic boundaries not geo-political boundaries. Los Carneros AVA was founded for it’s cool (climate 1) but long growing season. It has a tumultuous history, and has proven an dynamic and very interesting intersection since it’s inception. Russians to the north, Mexican settlemtents, bears, cougars, sheep, Missionaries, Pioneers, and how could you forget the indigenous tribes of Native Indians.

I have no idea what or how the TTB sees Los Carneros, but at a quick glance we can surmise it was founded as 1 area in the early 80’s and it probably is just seen as one area now. Hope that helps!

  43. Andrew says:

    Lisa,

Thanks for the comment. Who does not love a comment!?

I am so glad to that you visited the site and you bet you bottom dollar that us Vloggers will unite! I am excited to find a time to get together and think Jordan would be a no brainer as I have never been there! I was snooping around on your b(v)log last nite and think it is done very well, we can discuss ideas, tact, theory, of audience building etc in person, and I look forward to it.

I will go check the blog diaries now..!

And yes – you can see my ethos has slipped. I decided that videos need to be in 90% of my posts, but right now they can’t be in 100% or else I would not be posting anything…

Connect with you soon & thanks for stopping in!

  44. macdaddy says:

    Drew,
Are these guys distributed in Oregon? How many cases per.Cab Franc top 5 of this years quaffing?

  45. Andrew says:

    @macdaddy

Their Trompettes is their signature blend for cab franc. It is quite good and given their limited production and location in Napa, I blv it is a good value for a remarkable wine.

I can not speak to their distribution in OR. But here is a full tasting notes on their 2005 which I have tried on several occasions.
    http://www.rubissowwines.com/wines_detail_trompettes2005.html

I am not sure why it is not available online, but I am sure if you called Peter or Ariel they’d get you set-up with an order or availability in OR.

    Hope this helps!

      Ronald,
I can’t help much with getting you some Vyd work. I’d recommend contacting some vyd mangament companies, I am sure they’ll need help for 2010 harvest.
