This was an unexpected Vineyard Vlog outing. I popped in on Steve & Pam at the very end of the day. After spending quite some time with them in their home we ventured down to their wine making facility. The facility is very straightforward – and within a few minutes it was clear to see that the wines are their focus. Ecluse is a small family owned vineyard and winery tucked away on the much desired Westside of the Paso Robles AVA, and aside from making great wines, they also grow some great grapes, their grapes are coveted and go to a handful of Paso Robles premier wine makers .
The video shows a tasting through their current releases and we were so lucky as to do 2 barrel samples of the same exact Syrah that was aging in Hungarian Oak & French Oak. This was a wonderful opportunity to see how the barrel types will impart flavors and structure on the wines.
Ecluse is 5 minutes out of downtown and a very worthwhile visit. But call ahead and make an appointment.
